Eric Clapton latest band Derek & The Dominoes enter the studio on August 22, 1970 to record the album "Layla And Other Assorted Love Songs". Clapton was joined by former bandmates Bobby Whitlock, Carle Radle and Jim Gordon from Delaney, Bonnie & Friends. Duane Allman played slide guitar on the album, but declined an invitation to join the band. Though the record was originally considered a flop, critics now regard it as one of the best albums of all time and possibly Clapton's best project.
