British rockers The Kinks released "Lola" on August 29, 1970. A single release from the album "Lola Versus Powerman and the Moneygoround, Part One" the tune tells the story of a romantic interlude between a transvestite and a young man. The Kinks collected a top ten hit with the song. The band was founded by brothers Ray and Dave Davies in London in 1964. The Kinks were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1990. Ray Davies will release a new book Americana: The Kinks, the Road and the Perfect Riff" in October.
