Freddie Mercury was born Farrokh Bulsara on September 5, 1946 in Zanzibar. Mercury would join Brian May and Roger Taylor to form Queen in 1970. The Rock & Roll Hall of Famers are ranked 17th in VH1's 100 Greatest Artist of All Time while Mercury was chosen the 18th greatest singer by Rolling Stone. Freddie was just 45 years old when he died of complications from aids in 1991. Queen had revealed that a trio of songs featuring Mercury and Michael Jackson will be released later this year. Recorded at Jackson's home studio, the tapes have been locked away in a vault since 1983.
