Crosby is Jail-Byrd

David Crosby was released from prison on August 8, 1986 after serving just eight months of a five-year sentence for cocaine and firearms possession. The 71-year old musician was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame with both the Byrds and Crosby, Stills & Nash. Crosby is the biological father of rocker Melissa Etheridge's two children. CSN will play a string of dates in the United Kingdom in October.
Happy 66th Birthday to Rick Derringer

Rick Derringer was born Richard Zehringer on August 5, 1947 in Fort Recovery, Ohio. As a teenager, Rick with his band the McCoys would top the charts with "Hang On Sloopy" in the summer of 1965. In the 70s, Rick would tour and record with both Johnny and Edgar Winter. In 1973, Rick would find solo success with his signature song "Rock & Roll, Hoochie Koo". He is currently touring the U.S. through the end of summer and you may check the schedule here.
The times weren't the only thing A-changing for Bob Dylan on this date in 1962

Robert Zimmerman legally became Bob Dylan on August 2, 1962. The folk singer has noted that he was influenced by the poetry of Dylan Thomas and chose the moniker in homage to the poet. Later this month, Columbia Records will release "Another Self Portrait" (1969-1971) containing 35 previously unreleased tracks from the original "Self Portrait" and "New Morning" recording sessions. The collection will be issued in both a 2-disc set and a 4-disc deluxe box set.
