So, you may have noticed I wasn’t on the air July 18th and the 21st. I was in The Big Apple… and I should tell you that they don’t call it that there. Nope. They simply say “The City”. I loved New York City, and I don’t mean in the I heart NYC t-shirt kind of way. I truly enjoyed the food, the people, the sights…. everything! I even enjoyed riding the subway. Times Square was crowded but it was a Friday night (7/18) in downtown, and there was so much to see. I had my first New York hot dog at the Original Nathan’s (est. 1916) on Coney Island on Saturday (7/19). Then on Sunday (7/20), I took a sunset sail around the Hudson River area and got to see The Lady up close and met the love of my life, Levi… the bartender on the boat. Of course, Levi probably doesn’t even know I exist. I highly recommend Manhattan By Sail and The Shearwater if you’re going to NYC for a visit. When leaving Manhattan after the sailboat cruise, I stopped at Ground Zero and prayed. There’s no feeling like standing there and seeing the footprints of those buildings. It truly is hallowed ground. I still get goose bumps just thinking about it. Then, we stopped at a small pizza place so that I could try real NY pizza. It was awesome! Since I’ve been home, everyone has been asking me if the people are as rude as everyone says they are. And, let me assure you, that is not the case! Everyone, I met in NYC was so very nice, and I can’t wait to go back to visit.
