At the end of each school year Junior Auxiliary of Searcy teaches the Child Lures Prevention Program to all Searcy public school 3rd graders. With summer quickly approaching many schooled-aged children will likely have more free time on their hands, which makes this a vitally important time to teach them about staying safe against potential predators.
Lyrick Denney and Bethany Ellis, 3rd Grade students at Sidney Deener Elementary in Searcy, were interviewed Wednesday by Amanda Hanson, KAIT-TV Channel 8 New, about the recent Child Lures Prevention Program “Think First & Stay Safe” they had attended.
“The ‘Think First & Stay Safe’ program teaches students to identify and outsmart the common lures used in predatory crimes against children, both online and offline. Third grade participants learn essential personal safety skills which improve self-reliance and raise self-esteem all while being consistently reassured that most people are kind, safe and committed to their well-being,” said JA Child Lures Committee Chair Heather Glenn.
Junior Auxiliary of Searcy is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose purpose is to render charitable services which are beneficial to the general public, with particular emphasis on children. JA is a group of women dedicated to improving the lives of children in Searcy and White County. JA projects are designed to fulfill the virtues of Charity, Youth, Health, Community Service, and Leadership in members and those it serves.
