Updated Fatalities and Damages After Arkansas Storms on May 2

The Arkansas Department of Emergency Management (ADEM) has received reports of one fatality in Pulaski County.  Total fatalities from today’s storm are seven; one in Benton County, two in Conway County, three in Van Buren County and one in Pulaski County.  Cleburne County is also reporting that two people have been injured.  ADEM does not know the extent of the injuries.  Total injuries at this time are thirteen; five in Van Buren County and six in Conway County and 2 in Cleburne County.

We have received reports of damages in the following counties:  Benton, Conway, Cleburne, Craighead, Franklin, Grant, Howard, Lonoke, Newton, Pope, Pulaski, Saline and Van Buren.  Local emergency managers are on scene and the State Emergency Operations Center has activated to a level three (3).

Cleburne County has requested that media in the Greer’s Ferry area please move to the staging area behind Sonic.  Someone will be there to update them on today’s events as they progress.  Reporters have been going to the command post for information and this is hindering the rescue/recovery process.
